Hi, welcome to my Chemical Engineering software page. I have been studying the Chemical Engineering softwares for quite a few years now. The interest developed in my stay at IIT where I graduated in Chemical Engineering and developed softwares in C and MATLAB for Chemical Engineering. It then grew when I worked on the development of a simulation and design programs to which I contributed in my professional life. I looked for opportunities to further grow in the ChE software field, but could not find the right opportunity. Four years after working with a Project Management software company, I am trying to create such an opportunity with my startup "Acism Softwares".
Looking at the available softwares lying around for the Chemical Engineers, I have the following observations:
The softwares available mostly focus on their computations or problem solving capability, and are in general found weak at usability issues. There is no attempt to simplify the user interface of the softwares where it can be.
Most of them are available for a narrow domain of problems, and users find it difficult to solve a problem which is slightly away from the problem the softwares intend to solve.
Most of these softwares are highly expensive, out of reach of common customers.
Problems with the ChE software
If you are from the Chemical Engineering domain, let me invite you to share your feelings on this issue with me. Please take a few moments to fill in my form on the usage of software in your company or educational institute. The ideas accumulated should feed to the development of Chemical Engineering software.
